The Background

Established in 1984 as Ballynure Cycles, Chain Reaction Cycles has grown to be the largest online cycle retailer in europe. CRC started out as a modest local shop offering an exotic selection of carefully selected products and excellent workshop servicing. As the business rapidly expanded to lead the UK mail order market during the late 1990's it invested heavily in its warehouse infrastructure but the need for a physical shop had become overshadowed by their online success.

It wasn't until 2011 that the ecommerce giant returned to it's roots to open a state-of-the-art, 10,000 sq ft retail store in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The size and investment in this project required a modern, feature rich, EPOS system to power it; Chain Reaction Cycles turned to the team at Citrus-Lime to provide the solution.

The Solution

Citrus-Lime has delivered a modern, integrated EPOS solution required to power the multiple till lanes, back office and workshop management. A unique feature of this process has been the use of our Supplier Integration Module, in reverse, to import products from Chain Reaction Cycles existing Ecommerce database to populate their EPOS, rather than importing products from suppliers. This has proven the most direct and efficient way to transfer a tier 1 retailer’s stock database from an Ecommerce only channel, into a physical store.

Chain Reaction Cycles are also utilising our Workshop Module to handle their busy workshop, a range of in-store services are available from their highly trained staff including: gait analysis and performance fitting, maintenance courses and professional bike fitting from Inspired Cycling. Not only does the system reduce the management time and mental effort involved in running your workshop, it also will help you to reduce costs and provide outstanding levels of customer service. Based around a user-friendly calendar, works orders can be produced at the point of sale and imported into the workshop schedule. Workshop Module will also dispatch an automated SMS or email notification upon job completion.

The result is one of the UK's slickest cycle stores.
