Extremestore.co.uk - The Watergate Bay Surf Company
The Watergate Bay Surf Company had renovated their 'bricks and mortar'
store located on the beach at Watergate Bay in Cornwall, and wanted
to replace their existing ePos system with one which would integrate
with a new eCommerce site and their Sage accounts package.
The first stage was to install and set up the Microsoft RMS based
ePos system. RMS is well suited to retailers in the fashion and leisure
sectors due to its ability to deal well with matrix items (What
are Matrix items?) .
After an examination of the existing processes within the store we
agreed with the client a timeline for the roll-out which included
the responsibilities of both parties and covered the set up of the
database, training of management on the back-office and management
tools, and staff training. The roll-out went extremely smoothly and
staff had little difficulty adjusting to the new ePos user interface
- a benefit of using a Microsoft product that has much commonality
with the Office & Outlook interface people are used to. The management
reporting and back office software had all the functionality Watergate
Bay Surf Company needed to gain a better and more informed outlook
on business performance - a key to improving efficiency, profitability
and customer satisfaction.
The second stage tackled the eCommerce side of the project. An initial
Design Brief Meeting covered all aspects of the new site; the objectives,
target audience, structure, content, navigation, look & feel and
functionality. Indeed anything and everything about the site, the
client's aspirations and perspectives as well as deadlines and responsibilities
for content were all discussed at this early stage. The benefit to
CitrusLime and the client was that both parties got to establish what
the site would acheive and how it would do so, benefit from the client's
in-depth knowledge of their retail vertical and ours of designing
successfull eCommerce sites, and define the responsibilities and timescales
for delivery.
The Design Brief Meeting led to the Concept Design and Development
process where we produced a non-functioning representation of the
final site. A further meeting was then held to present this and allow
for feedback and incorporate any changes and adjustments. This process
allowed the client to see how their products would be represented
to customers, the information presented to support the purchasing
process and the way a customer will progress through the site from
arrival to (hopefully) checkout.
The next process was the development and implementation of the fully-functioning
eCommerce site, where our design guys worked their magic. The end
result was the transformation of the client's original concept into
a tailored, focussed and professionally designed eCommerce site.
The final stage, once the site was completed, was to unite the client's
RMS ePos system and the new eCommerce store. Watergate Bay Surf Company
now have a modern ePos, Stock Control & Store Management System
which fully integrates with their new eCommerce site www.extremestore.co.uk
.
